Who we are
Deliver and Store is an Australian family-owned third-party logistics (3PL) provider. We operate temperature-controlled warehousing and refrigerated transport from two facilities — Deception Bay in Queensland and Welshpool in Western Australia. The Welshpool site also includes a confectionery retail outlet offering Lindt and other brands, open to the public.
This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and how you can access or correct it. It applies to our website, our online customer portal, our retail outlet, and our dealings with customers, suppliers, job applicants and members of the public.
We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
What personal information we collect
We only collect information we genuinely need to run the business. Depending on your dealings with us, that may include:
| Contact details | Name, business name, position, email address, phone number, postal and delivery addresses. |
|---|---|
| Account information | Customer or account numbers, portal login credentials, billing and payment details, purchase orders. |
| Consignment information | Sender and recipient details, delivery instructions, signatures and proof-of-delivery records, temperature logs associated with a consignment. |
| Enquiry information | The content of quote requests, emails, phone calls and messages you send us. |
| Website information | IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, referring site, and general location inferred from IP. Collected in aggregate for security and to understand how the site is used. |
| Recruitment information | Résumés, employment history, qualifications, licences and referee details, where you apply for a role. |
| Site access records | Visitor sign-in details and CCTV footage at our facilities, for safety, security and food-safety compliance. |
We do not seek to collect sensitive information (such as health or biometric information) unless it is directly necessary — for example a driver licence condition or a workplace injury record — and then only with consent or as permitted by law.
How we collect it
Most information is collected directly from you: when you request a quote, open an account, place or receive a consignment, log in to the customer portal, email or phone us, apply for a job, or visit one of our sites.
Sometimes we collect information about you from a third party — most commonly when one of our customers gives us a recipient's name, address and contact number so that we can complete a delivery. If you are a delivery recipient, we received your details from the sender.
We may also collect information from publicly available sources (such as a company website or business register) when verifying a business account.
Why we use it
We use personal information to:
- provide storage, picking and packing, and refrigerated transport services;
- plan delivery runs and contact you about a delivery;
- maintain stock records and provide inventory reporting through the customer portal;
- quote, invoice and collect payment;
- maintain temperature, traceability and food-safety records, including for HACCP compliance;
- respond to enquiries, complaints and claims;
- keep our sites, staff and stock secure;
- assess job applications;
- meet our legal, tax, work health and safety, and food-safety obligations.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not trade or rent contact lists.
Who we share it with
We disclose personal information only where it is necessary to deliver our services or where the law requires it. Recipients may include:
- Transport and delivery partners — including the partner carriers who service Townsville, Mackay, Cairns, Western Queensland, the rest of NSW and Victoria on our behalf, where a consignment travels beyond our own fleet.
- Our customers — where you are a delivery recipient, proof of delivery is provided to the sender.
- Service providers — IT, warehouse management and portal hosting, accounting, insurance and professional advisers, each engaged on terms requiring them to protect your information.
- Regulators and authorities — where disclosure is required or authorised by law, including food-safety, work health and safety, and law enforcement agencies.
Some of our service providers may store data on servers located outside Australia. Where that occurs we take reasonable steps to ensure the recipient handles your information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
How we protect it
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. Those steps include controlled physical access to our facilities, 24/7 site monitoring, access controls and authentication on our systems, staff confidentiality obligations, and secure disposal of records we no longer need.
No system is completely secure. If we become aware of a data breach likely to result in serious harm, we will notify affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as required under the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected, or as long as the law requires. Consignment, temperature and food-safety records are retained to meet traceability and compliance obligations. Financial records are retained for the periods required by Australian tax law. Unsuccessful job applications are destroyed or de-identified within a reasonable period unless you ask us to keep them on file.
Accessing and correcting your information
You can ask us for access to the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date or incomplete. Contact us using the details below. We will respond within a reasonable period and will usually provide access free of charge, though a reasonable charge may apply where a request requires substantial work.
In limited circumstances we may refuse access — for example where giving access would unreasonably affect another person's privacy, or where the information relates to a commercially sensitive decision. If we refuse, we will tell you why in writing.
You can also ask to opt out of marketing communications at any time; every marketing email we send includes an unsubscribe option.
Complaints
If you believe we have mishandled your personal information, please contact us first so we can investigate. Email hello@deliverandstore.com.au with the details and we will acknowledge your complaint and let you know how we will handle it.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or by calling 1300 363 992.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our operations or the law. The current version is always published on this page, with the date it was last updated shown at the top.
Common questions
Does Deliver and Store sell my personal information?
No. We do not sell, rent or trade personal information. We disclose it only where necessary to provide our storage, picking and packing, and transport services, or where required by law.
Why does Deliver and Store have my details if I never contacted them?
Most likely because you are the recipient of a delivery. One of our customers provided your name, address and contact number so we could complete the consignment. You can contact us to access or correct those details.
Is my information stored in Australia?
Our records are held in Australia, but some service providers — for example IT and hosting providers — may store data overseas. Where that happens we take reasonable steps to ensure your information is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
How do I request the information you hold about me?
Email hello@deliverandstore.com.au with your request. We will verify your identity and respond within a reasonable period, usually at no charge.
How long do you keep delivery and temperature records?
Consignment and temperature records are kept for as long as needed to meet food-safety traceability and legal obligations, and financial records for the periods required by Australian tax law.
