Cool courier and last-mile cold delivery.
The last mile is where cold chains break: short drops, repeated door openings, product sitting in a hot van between stops. We run it on our own refrigerated vehicles, from our own cold stores. Cool courier, cold delivery, chilled courier, refrigerated delivery, last-mile transport — customers use all of these words for the same job. Here is what the job actually involves, and where we do it.
The words, and what they mean here
Search terms vary; the service does not. This is how the common ones map onto what we run.
| Cool courier | Small-to-medium temperature-controlled consignments delivered on a scheduled run, in a refrigerated vehicle rather than an esky in a car boot. |
|---|---|
| Cold delivery / cool delivery | Any drop where the product must stay inside its band the whole way — frozen, cold or chiller. |
| Refrigerated delivery | The same thing, named after the vehicle. Ours are company-owned and temperature logged. |
| Last-mile transport | The final leg from a cold store to the store, venue or customer. This is the leg most often outsourced, and the one that breaks cold chains. |
| Chilled freight | Larger consignments, usually palletised, moving between sites on our line runs. |
How a run actually works
Where we run the last mile
Townsville, Mackay, Cairns, Western Queensland, the rest of NSW and Victoria are serviced with our freight partners. 1,668 suburbs are on a scheduled run — find your suburb’s delivery day.
Who uses it
The advantage of not being a broker
Most last-mile cold delivery is subcontracted, which is why the temperature record usually stops at a depot door. Our core network is company-owned vehicles driven by our own people, dispatched from cold stores we operate. One provider holds the product, the record and the responsibility.
Cool courier and cold delivery — questions
What is a cool courier?
A courier service that carries product in a temperature-controlled vehicle rather than an insulated box in an ordinary van. In our case that means company-owned refrigerated vehicles running frozen, cold and chiller bands, with temperature logged from load to delivery.
Is cold delivery the same as refrigerated delivery?
In practice, yes. Cold delivery, cool delivery and refrigerated delivery all describe keeping product inside its temperature band from pickup to drop-off. What matters is whether the vehicle is genuinely refrigerated and whether the temperature is recorded.
Where do you provide last-mile cold delivery?
Queensland from Brisbane north to Rockhampton, Northern NSW to Nambucca Heads, and the Perth metropolitan area from Mandurah to Yanchep. Townsville, Mackay, Cairns, Western Queensland, the rest of NSW and Victoria are covered with our freight partners.
Do you deliver direct to my customers?
Yes. We deliver to retail locations, venues and direct to end customers from our cold stores in Brisbane and Perth.
Can I get proof the product stayed cold?
Yes. Temperature is logged through the run and proof of delivery is captured digitally at the point of delivery.
Do you subcontract the last mile?
Not in our core network — those runs are our own vehicles and drivers. Regional Queensland beyond Rockhampton is the exception and is handled with named freight partners.
Do you store raw meat or seafood?
No. To keep our coolrooms and trucks odour-free, we don't accept raw meat, poultry, seafood or other strong-smelling goods.
